mold damage facts

keep an eye out

Mold damage in a home or business is caused by excess moisture and can lead to health problems like allergies, asthma attacks, and respiratory irritation, as well as property damage and decreased home value. Common signs of mold include musty odors, visible discoloration on surfaces, water stains, and warped wood. To prevent and control mold, it's essential to fix any water leaks, dry out damp areas, and improve ventilation.

Mold Restoration

How We Handle Mold Damage

 1. Emergency Assessment and Moisture Source Identification

Upon your contact, we immediately schedule a detailed inspection. The first critical step is identifying and addressing the source of the moisture that is fueling the mold growth, such as a leaky pipe, roof leak, or ventilation issue, as remediation cannot be successful until the source is controlled. We use specialized equipment like moisture meters and thermal imaging to precisely map the extent of the water damage and mold presence, often recommending and coordinating with a third-party environmental hygienist for pre-testing to confirm the mold species and determine the full scope of contamination.

2. Containment and Air Filtration

Before any removal begins, we establish strict containment barriers using plastic sheeting and negative air pressure technology to isolate the affected area. This critical step ensures that mold spores are not dispersed to uncontaminated parts of the building during the remediation process. We utilize high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration units to scrub the air within the contained zone, capturing airborne mold spores and other contaminants.

3. Mold Removal and Remediation

Our certified technicians, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), carefully remove all mold-contaminated materials that cannot be salvaged, such as porous items like drywall, insulation, and carpet. All removed materials are double-bagged and disposed of following strict environmental regulations. Non-porous surfaces are meticulously cleaned using specialized, EPA-registered antimicrobial and biocide agents, often involving wire brushing or sanding to ensure all visible and microscopic mold roots are eradicated.

4. Deodorization and Structural Drying

Once the mold is physically removed and surfaces are sanitized, we use professional drying equipment to eliminate residual moisture from the structure. We may also employ advanced deodorization techniques to eliminate the musty odors associated with mold. The entire affected structure is thoroughly dried to industry standards to prevent any recurrence of growth.

5. Post-Remediation Verification and Restoration

After the structural drying is complete, we highly recommend a clearance test, typically conducted by an independent environmental hygienist, to verify that the mold spore counts within the property have returned to normal, healthy levels. Once clearance is granted, our skilled reconstruction team begins the process of restoring the affected area, replacing removed drywall, insulation, flooring, and ensuring all structural and aesthetic elements are returned to their pre-loss condition, finalizing a complete and safe restoration of your property.
