water damage facts

Did you know?

A mere 1 inch of water can cause over $25,000 in home damage, and only about 10-20% of damaged homes have flood insurance. Six inches of moving water can knock a person down, and 2 feet can sweep a car away. Flooding is the most common natural disaster in the U.S., with 90% of presidential natural disaster declarations involving floods.

Water Restoration

How We Handle Water Damage

 1. Emergency Contact and Initial Assessment

The moment you contact us, we dispatch our emergency response team, understanding that rapid action is crucial to minimize structural damage and content loss. Upon arrival, the first step is to identify the source of the water intrusion, stop the flow if it is still active, and conduct a thorough safety inspection of the area. We then perform a detailed assessment using advanced moisture detection equipment, like thermal cameras and moisture meters, to accurately map the extent of the water saturation in visible and hidden areas, which is vital for developing a comprehensive restoration plan and accurately documenting the loss for your insurance claim.

2. Water Extraction and Removal

This phase is critical for preventing further absorption and damage. We use powerful, truck-mounted and portable water extraction units to rapidly remove all standing water from the premises, extracting it from flooring, carpet, and subflooring materials. By maximizing water removal at this stage, we significantly reduce the time needed for drying and minimize the potential for long-term structural issues.

3. Drying and Dehumidification

Once the bulk water is removed, we move to the structural drying phase. Industrial-grade air movers are strategically placed to circulate high-velocity air across wet surfaces, promoting rapid evaporation. Simultaneously, powerful low-grain refrigerant dehumidifiers are used to remove the moisture from the air, preventing it from condensing back onto materials and halting the development of mold and mildew. We continuously monitor and log moisture levels in materials like drywall, wood, and concrete until they meet industry-standard dry goals.

4. Cleaning, Sanitization, and Content Management

Any affected porous materials that cannot be salvaged are safely removed and disposed of. All restorable structural materials and contents, particularly those exposed to contaminated water (Category 2 or 3), are thoroughly cleaned, deodorized, and sanitized using professional-grade anti-microbial treatments. If necessary, salvageable personal items or commercial contents are packed out and moved to our climate-controlled facility for specialized cleaning and restoration.

5. Restoration and Final Inspection

The final phase involves the repair and reconstruction needed to bring your property back to its pre-loss condition. This can include repairing or replacing damaged drywall, insulation, flooring, and paint. Our skilled reconstruction team manages the entire build-back process, ensuring all work adheres to current building codes and standards. Before completion, we conduct a final walk-through with you to ensure every aspect of the restoration meets your complete satisfaction and that your property is fully restored and ready for immediate use.
